Gordon Thomson

bio

Gordon trained in classical ballet at Rambert between 1970 and 1974. Gordon with another top UK Pilates expert Lynne Robinson, created Body Control Pilates, the first teacher training courses for both mat and machine in London and abroad. He has devised and teaches his own machine courses with Ellie Ioannnodou for Pilates Body Europe and has just completed Finnish Pilates courses throughout 2014 for Marja Putkisto Method and will also teach in the near future in Finland with Marja.

Gordon opened first pilates studios at the Urdang Academy and Pineapple Dance Studio in 1981 before rolling out the mats at the South Kensington Pineapple Studio in 1984. Later he would go on to teach at Wayne Sleep Studios from 1991 right up until 2013.

Our team leader specialises in treating injured clients and those who are recovering from major surgery. Gordon is very attentive in his approach and takes great pride in rehabilitating practitioners back to their former selves.

Author of more than a dozen books, Gordon has also been published in major magazines discussing pilates, health, pre-training and exercises for football, rugby, rowing, tennis, cricket, ice hockey and water sports.

Gordon also takes time to act as the head coach for two football teams in London and has won numerous awards including three league cups and two other tournaments. In May 2014 he won the London Unity League with London Romans FC at St. George’s Park.
