After 20 years managing cancer services in the NHS, Carolyn established oomph to provide uplifting and enjoyable exercise for people wanting to get their oomph back. Oomph specialises in the rehabilitation of cancer patients, though everyone can benefit from their services in some way. Carolyn enjoys leading groups and classes for the Maggies Cancer Centre in Hammersmith and The Haven in Fulham, as well as for the Silverfit charity in Hyde Park.
The interest in rehabilitation has led to Carolyn working with clients experiencing a fascinating range of conditions including post-heart attack, ME, PCOS, fibromyalgia, stroke, epilepsy, spinal injury, hip and knee replacement, depression and many forms of cancer.
Teams of Carolyn’s clients have completed several races together and oomph was honoured to be invited to start last year’s Race for Life in Hyde Park. Nordic walking is a perfect mode of exercise for everyone – whether it’s being used athletically or as rehabilitation.
Carolyn spoke about her work at the 2014 Nordic Walking UK national conference. Alongside teaching at Prana Wellbeing she is also studying to train others as instructors. Carolyn has featured in Women’s Walking magazine and the Sportsister website.
